Starz is just $1.99/mo. when you subscribe through Prime Video

The streamer is home to a deep library of original shows and major movies.

Starz on Prime Video
Prime Video

There are plenty of great shows worth watching on Starz, but the streaming service can seem like an unnecessary add-on, especially if you’re already paying for a bunch of others. Prime Video is making the decision to try Starz out a little easier, though, by offering a subscription for just $1.99/mo. if you’re already a Prime Video subscriber.

That subscription deal will get you three months at that price, and then the service will renew at its normal price of $10.99/mo.

Starz is, of course, home to shows like OutlanderPower, and The Couple Next Door, but just as crucially, it has an archive of great movies that are often hard to catch on other services, including The Hunger GamesJurassic ParkFast X and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

This limited-time discount is one of several ways that Prime Video is attempting to make itself the streaming home for all of your channels. While many of the major streamers can be accessed through the service, though, Netflix and several other major players have not partnered with Amazon.

Still, a discount that steep can be hard to resist, and it’s almost definitely designed to encourage you to set up a subscription that you’ll eventually forget about. For that reason, it might be good to set some sort of reminder for yourself to cancel the subscription and avoid paying for a month of Starz at full price. Unless, of course, you love the streamer’s offerings so much that you just can’t resist coming back for more.

‘Cross’ is a massive hit for Amazon Prime Video, initial viewership numbers suggest
The series is the third biggest debut for an Amazon series this year.

It might not have all the flash of a streaming service like Netflix, but Amazon Prime Video can command a pretty large audience. Variety is reporting that Cross, the series that adapts James Patterson's Alex Cross novels, has drawn 40 million viewers in the first 20 days of its release.

Prime Video says that those viewership numbers make Cross its third biggest series of the year, behind just the first season of Fallout and Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2. Amazon had previously reported that Fallout hit 65 million viewers in 16 days, and Rings of Power hit 40 million in 11 days, growing to 55 million over the course of a month. It's also the streamer's sixth biggest launch of all time over the course of 20 days, with 55% of the show's audience coming from outside of the United States. Germany, the U.K., Brazil, Canada, and Spain, in particular, are apparently seeing “outsized performance.”

Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick

Every year, we're inundated with deals around Black Friday designed to get us to pony up some cash. Some of those deals are better than others, and this year, one of the very best deals is actually not on any physical merchandise. Instead, it's the heavily discounted prices Amazon Prime Video is offering users who want to subscribe to additional streaming services through the platform.

Paramount+ with Showtime is currently 75% off for the first two months, bringing the subscription price down from $11.99/mo. to $2.99/mo. for those two months. With that subscription you can watch everything from Survivor to Top Gun: Maverick and plenty of other great films and TV shows in between.

One of the benefits of having an Amazon Prime Video subscription is that, not only can you watch everything available on Prime Video, you can also manage many of your other subscriptions through the platform. There have long been some major holdouts from that deal, though, and one of them is now allowing customers to subscribe through Prime Video.

Apple TV+ will be joining Prime Video's lineup of channel extensions, which also includes Max, Paramount+, AMC+, Shudder, and more. Adding the channel to Prime Video will still cost $9.99/mo., but it will allow you to watch Apple TV+ content without leaving the Prime Video app.
