Levi’s 501 Interpretations

Calling all denim heads. Levi’s 501 Interpretations is the exciting new photography book by the iconic denim brand commemorating 140 years in the biz. The Manual recently got a sneak peek at the tome and was blown away with the 501 photographs—the culmination of a global campaign designed to bring together visual interpretations of the classic 501 style by fans and celebrities—showcasing good ol’ blue on ordinary folks to stars such as True Blood’s Joe Manganiello and singer Miguel to actors Anna Kendrick and Kate Bosworth. Dedicated followers of fashion will particularly be interested in renowned photographer Francesco Carrozzini’s portraits of designers and tastemakers, ranging from Todd Snyder, Mark McNairy and actor Alan Cumming to Paper Magazine‘s Mickey Boardman, Details’ Eugene Tong and A Continuous Lean‘s Michael Williams, all sporting the classic jean in their own stylish way. Levi’s produced only 501 copies of the book globally, so run, don’t walk to get this casebound gem in high-quality linen wrap, each individually numbered and with a unique cover image so no two editions are alike. Levi’s 501 Interpretations will be sold for $55 at select Levi’s stores as of August 1 and online shortly after, with proceeds going to students at the California College of Art in San Francisco.

Zenith unveils stealth defy shadow dive watches in micro-blasted titanium
Dark depths: Zenith's micro-blasted titanium defy shadow editions honor 1969 heritage
Zenith defy extreme shadow diver blue background

Zenith redefines its DEFY dive watch legacy with two striking "Shadow" editions, giving both new and classic designs a fresh look in micro-blasted titanium. The DEFY Extreme Diver Shadow and the DEFY Revival Diver Shadow blend the collection's 1969 origins with modern stealth aesthetics, creating professional-grade dive tools for underwater exploration.
Since 1969, the DEFY collection has earned the nickname "time safe" for its robust construction, which protected movements like a vault. The original DEFY Diver A3648, known as the DEFY Plongeur, showcased serious diving credentials with 600-meter water resistance and a rotating bezel—qualities these Shadow editions pay tribute to, while also introducing contemporary materials and bold visual statements.
The DEFY Extreme Diver Shadow features a 42.5mm micro-blasted titanium case, emphasizing the collection's angular profile. Its matte finish highlights geometric lines and enhances the stealthy look, while yellow accents boost visibility. The black ceramic bezel is unidirectional and filled with Super-LumiNova for clear readability, with fluted edges for easy operation with gloves.
Robust engineering is evident in the 600-meter water resistance, helium escape valve, and screw-down crown with guards, making the watch suitable for saturation diving. The black dial, adorned with a star pattern, features C1 Super-LumiNova markers and yellow accents for visibility in low light.
Both models, despite their depth ratings, have display case backs to showcase their movements. The Extreme Diver houses the El Primero 3620 automatic caliber in a black finish, beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour. It includes a paramagnetic escapement and silicon components, delivering a 60-hour power reserve.
The DEFY Revival Diver Shadow faithfully echoes the original A3648, with a 37mm micro-blasted titanium case and the signature fourteen-sided bezel. The unidirectional bezel features a yellow-tinted sapphire insert, and the screw-down crown is positioned at 4:30, just like the first model. Water resistance remains at 600 meters, or 1,969 feet—a nod to the DEFY collection’s founding year.
The Elite 670 automatic caliber powers the Revival Diver, operating at 4Hz with a 60-hour power reserve. Its display case back reveals a Geneva-striped oscillating weight shaped like the Zenith star.
Both models offer a variety of strap options, including micro-blasted titanium bracelets, black rubber with a Cordura-effect texture, and fabric straps made from recycled fishing nets. Quick-change mechanisms make swapping straps easy.
These Shadow editions highlight Zenith’s ongoing innovation in professional dive watch design, seamlessly combining technical excellence with bold, contemporary styling.

F1 teamware lets fans show support for real and fictional teams
F1 Movie merch sampler.

There were two announcements related to F1 teamware this week, both related to F1 teams that aren't in the 2025 season. Teamware is a big deal with Formula 1 racing fans who show their support by wearing team colors at Grand Prix races worldwide, where grandstands are packed with spectators sporting hats, shirts, and all manner of apparel in Ferrari red, Red Bull blue, and McLaren orange. Mixing media and reality, building on the trend, F1 recently started selling limited edition apparel with the APXGP logo of the fictional F1 team in F1 The Movie,  due to launch later this month.

In a related note, fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger announced on X a new apparel partnership with the upcoming 2026 Cadillac F1 team. Hilfiger has a long history of partnering with F1 teams.

The latest New Balance 9060 is as colorful as it gets
New Balance announces new colorful sneaker
new balance green suede sneaker

Although it might seem like a collaboration with a particular soft drink, New Balance’s latest 9060 sneaker is an in-house project that exudes color. Similar to the recently announced ‘Cyber Jade,’ the new sneaker from the athletic company is a bold composition of color far from its typical neutrals and monochromatic color palettes. A far cry from last month’s ‘Grey Days,’ the New Balance 9060 has been reworked to incorporate colors and hues that make it feel like a true summer sneaker.

While its official release is still to be announced, this version of the New Balance 9060 is only part of the releases the brand has planned for the model this year. Although this might be the brand’s most colorful version thus far, it doesn’t mean it’s any less of a performance sneaker than its predecessors. A vibrant pop to add to your wardrobe, get ready for one of New Balance’s most statement sneakers of 2025.
