A decanter is an essential item when it comes to completing one’s home bar. Not only does it have a functional purpose, but the right decanter can really bring the whole aesthetic of a home bar together.

On the wine side of things, decanters help to aerate wine while allowing sediment (if there is any) to fall to the bottom. On the whiskey (or rum, añejo tequilas, etc) side of things, they don’t serve the same purpose, but we’ll be damned if putting a bottle of our favorite liquor into a decanter doesn’t make it look like it’s ready to be named Time’s Person of the Year. For this reason, we here The Manual are teaming up with the

luxury decanter brand Royal Decanters

to give away one decanter set to three lucky winners!

Basically, we want you to have the best-looking bar on the block, and all you have to do is fill out a form. It literally could not be easier than that. (Okay, you could inherit a vintage decanter from someone, but then there is probably going to be the crushing emotion of the loss of a loved one attached to that decanter, which will still make it more difficult overall. We don’t want that and we don’t want that for you. We’re all about having fun here, hence the chance to win a decanter for free.)

Each winner will get to choose from one of three Royal Decanter gift sets. The sets are the Skull-Shaped Glass Whiskey Decanter ($60), the Etched Globe Whiskey Decanter (a $95 value), and the Sailing Ship Whiskey Decanter ($120). Each decanter holds at least 750mL of liquid (the globe holds an additional 100mL) and comes on a wooden base, which also serves as a home for the four glasses that come in each set. The decanters are lead-free, ensuring that you don’t have to worry about the spirit that you’re putting into it. The decanters are made to last, too, but if they don’t, each comes with a lifetime warranty.

Celebrate the Campari Spritz at this NYC event
Campari Spritz

New York is getting a spritz-themed takeover, as aperitivo brand Campari is setting up a Campari Spritz Square in downtown NYC. The weekend of June 14 and 15, the 171 E. Broadway hub within Chinatown and the Lower East Side will host a weekend dedicated to all things Campari Spritz, including art and jewelry displays, a live DJ, and of course food and music.

The idea of the event is not just to highlight the drink -- which is a bitter, more bracing alternative to the ever-popular Aperol Spritz, that you'll see enjoyed all over Italy -- but also to promote the Italian aperitivo culture which involves small snacks and light cocktails for the early evenings before a meal.

An elevated twist on the gelatinous drink
Pascual Jell-O shots.

Remember Jell-O shots? Well, like cargo pants, middle parts, and Cosmopolitan cocktail recipes, they're back. But this time, they're going next level.

Pascual is a modern Mexican restaurant in Washington, D.C. The spot has received extensive press, including being named on the NYT's esteemed best American restaurants list. But don't worry—the eatery is not above a good old-fashioned Jell-O shot.

We tried Made In’s first-ever grill—and it might be the perfect backyard upgrade
Gauging the newest cooking tool from a top brand
Made In grill.

We're on a fast course toward outdoor cooking season, which means new gear from top culinary brands across the board. Among them is Made In, the Texas company behind some genuinely cool cooking equipment. When we heard a new grill was in the works — the first of its kind for the outfit — we had to give it a spin.

The Made In Grill dropped the first week of May. It's an intriguing model for a number of reasons. First, it's compatible with several fuel sources. Second, it's quite portable while substantial enough in its own right to be your go-to home grill. And it can easily convert to a griddle as well, meaning you can cook a number of things just the way you like them.
